I got a call from our neighbor Alicia today asking if we wanted to go with her and her two kids, Garrett and Cole, to the church for a play date... Are you kidding?!?! After months of feeling cooped up and all the kids around being sick, finally, we get a chance to play! I quickly got myself and the kids ready to go over to the church and we headed through the back yard and down a block to the church. We got there and the neighbor that lives behind us had a great activity for pre-schoolers. We took the plastic film canisters (not the ones with the grey caps but the white ones) and filled them 1/3 the way up with water, drop in an alkaseltzer tablet, snap the lid back on and set it up side down on the floor. The alkaseltzer works it's magic and it's a great bottle rocket! A.J. loved it but Jessah thought it was a little too loud. She liked watching them fly, but no too close. We spent a good hour or hour and a half playing "blast off!" I tried to take more pictures but I forgot to empty my lousy memory card in my camera.... oops.
All the kids lined up because at first we thought this would be easiest... come to find out, the kids all would get up, chase their "rockets", and we had a little bit of chaos....
Angie trying to explain to A.J. the order he had to do it.... water, then tablet...a.k.a. rocket fuel, then lid, then upside down.... it took about 2 times then A.J. was a pro.
A.J. and Jessah both watching their rockets patiently before the first time they launched.... and it was the last for Jessah... below is how she spent the remainder of our time there.
All in all it was a good afternoon out where the kids got to play with our sweet neighbors we haven't seen enough of this winter!
